# Testnet and mainnet

> What runs where today, and what testnet mode actually simulates.

Portir has two modes, switched in **Profile → Mode**. Prices, sessions, the Guard and news are **live from mainnet in both**. The mode only changes where a trade settles.

## How testnet stays honest

`TestExchange` fills each trade at an EIP-712 quote signed by a keeper with the **live mainnet price**, valid for 10 minutes. So the Guard sees on testnet exactly what it would see on mainnet, and nothing can go stale.

  Mainnet buys sign real transactions with real USDT. Start on testnet. Mainnet plan execution through the Agentic Wallet stays switched off until its checklist is complete; see the [roadmap](/resources/roadmap).

<Note>
  The Binance Trading API refuses requests from cloud IPs (`40304 compliance restriction`). Mainnet buy quotes therefore work from a home network or a local run, not from the hosted app in every region.
